Finally I’m here in Sweden, in this dark and cold, yet still not snowy landscape, with my family. Although the trip felt unusually long and tiring this time I’ve been feeling much better since I came here. It seems like finally my stomach is allowing me to eat again without turning inside out. Hurray! So the last two days has been mostly about eating everything I have missed in the US since last time here and resting up from the trip.
Now I’m ready for the Holiday season! Bring on the gingerbread cookie baking, the last minute christmas shopping and the tree decorating – I’m so excited for it all!

When I saw this green fabric peeking out in one of the stuffed racks over at Atlantis Attic in Brooklyn my heart started to beat faster. As I discovered that this fabulous paisley print in an almost neon green and electric navy blue was a 1970′s long sleeved maxi gown I was jumping for joy. The model reminds me of one of my favorite vintage maxi gowns – this one, and just like that favorite this one was also luckily long enough for me (my constant maxi gown problem!). It had just been shortened with very loose stitches that gave me at least 4 more inches once I let the hem down.
I’m planning on wearing this dress to some holiday parties this year, even though it has a slightly tropical feel to it I think the long sleeves and turtleneck does make up for that. With the right shoes and accessories it will be just perfect!

This night I dreamt I had the biggest most glamorous wavy hair and was wearing a green paisley 70′s maxi gown (a dress I actually own and have yet to show you!). Over this dress I was sporting a fitted Celine-ish tan leather jacket. My make up was perfectly done and I was ready to have a great night out with some friends. Oh how far this dream is from my reality right now!
I’m pretty sure this lovely dream was a desperate cry over the fact that I’ve been wearing the same grey sweatpants and dark grey wool sweater for like eight days now! I have barely stepped outside my house in a week and I can swear my pale face almost looks green… Even though I’m feeling a little better right now, I’m far from back to normal… and tomorrow is the big day where I have to catch a flight on my own to Paris and then on to Copenhagen and finally catch the 3-hour train to Kalmar, Sweden where my family lives. I have dreaded this trip so much, almost canceled it several times, because I didn’t feel well enough. Now I’m determined to give it a try, I wouldn’t wanna miss spending Christmas with my family for anything. Especially since it’s been 2 years since I did just that.
I’ll be back posting soon… I just happen to have an unpublished outfit from Costa Rica where I’m wearing the exact same dress I dreamt about this night! It’s really something special… a new favorite for sure!
Thank you all for you sweet comments and well wishes – they really mean a lot to me!

Yesterday night I was in such severe stomach pain and was not been able to keep any food so we had no choice but to go to the emergency room. It was a long night but I was well taken care of and with my husband patiently sitting next to my bed for hours, so with some IV and medicines I was soon a little bit better. It’s going to take some time before I recover, so be patient if I can’t update the blog as often as I usually do. Now I just want to focus on slowly starting to eat, get some energy and strength so I can get on that flight on Friday!

I hope your weekend has been way better than mine – I’ve been sick in bed most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday with some kind of stomach flu. Isn’t it the worst feeling to feel so ill that you have to cancel all your fun weekend plans? I was supposed to go shopping for Christmas gifts, go to a swedish party and have a friend over for dinner tonight all of which I had to cancel now. But that’s life I guess! Now I just hope I’ll get well enough to go to Sweden this Friday. I am so excited to go back home to celebrate Christmas with my family and friends there that I’m not planning on letting anything stop me.
What have you been up to this weekend? Anything fun?

I have always loved the classic look of a wool toggle coat and fell completely in love when I saw this one at J Crew! So when the Black Friday sales were going on last weekend I couldn’t resist clicking home this green wool and cashmere coat on 25% discount and with free shipping (It almost saved me $100!). I hesitated a little on which color to get, but finally I went for this green one called deep alpine. It definitely cheers up any dull grey day so I’m quite happy about it! It also seems really warm (we’ll see exactly how warm, when I go to Sweden next week!). What do you guys think about it?
I’ve been a little under the weather these last few days, feeling tired and with some stomach ache. That’s probably also why I managed to go out yesterday with the tags still on my new coat, walking the streets until some kind stranger came up to me and said – Nice coat! But you might wanna take off those tags back there! Yes, it was a bit awkward.
I wish you all a nice sunny weekend! I’m gonna try to rest up and enjoy the still very pleasant fall weather.

So here’s my 1st post out of the 30 blog posts list! This first headline was a bit tricky I have to say. I mean, who could choose only three things from your wardrobe? But the first thing that came to my mind was actually my Jenny Packham wedding gown. This is the most gorgeous dress I’ve ever worn and wearing it you can see all of the work that has gone into it. So even though I’ll never wear it again (if I don’t dye it which I have seriously considered) I’d make this my first pick if I had to choose. See more details from it here.

This is my second pick – a vintage 1970′s glitter maxi gown. You’ve probably seen it a few times here on the blog, it’s just one of those dresses that I wear over and over again and it always makes me feel great! I could never see myself part with this dress.

The third pick was the hardest, because so many of my dresses could take this spot. Finally I made up my mind and selected this dress as number three. It’s really nothing special, a bumblebee colored vintage 60′s dress, but at the same time this is just so me. I love the warm yellow color, the stripes and the cut. It’s a comfy and fun party dress that I absolutely love!

I hope you all have been enjoying the weekend and Thanksgiving if you’ve been celebrating. My weekend has been so perfect as I’ve had a friend here from Sweden and we’ve been enjoying the sunshine, having brunches outside, walking around doing some shopping and sightseeing. I know I’ve not been much of a blogger these last few days but I just didn’t have a single minute to spare for sitting down at my desk!
But now finally here’s another outfit from Costa Rica – an outfit in natural hues shown off in the hammock of that amazing villa we stayed at. This white knitted swimsuit is a vintage find from a few years back. I’ve used it quite a lot, for the beach but also as a top with skirts or shorts. The sunglasses are nude colored oversized babies from House of Harlow that I got just before our trip – I am completely in love with them! They are so unique in their shape and color that I knew I just had to have them the first time I saw them.

I’m Wearing:
White knitted swimsuit – Vintage (Buffalo Exchange Philadelphia)
Sunglasses – House of Harlow
Necklace – Forever 21
Scarf – Free People

To all of my American readers I just wanna wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving today! I hope you have a great holiday together with your dear ones with tons of food and fun!
Even though Thanksgiving is not celebrated in my culture I still take this day to remind myself of all good things that I have to be thankful for. I have so many blessings in my life but sometimes it’s easy to forget that, to just keep running forward for new things and goals, to never stop and think what’s right here around you. That’s why this new tradition for me is one that I really love. xoxo Elsa
