Lately I’ve got some compliments here on the blog and IRL about my hair and I have to say that it is much shinier and stronger than normal. This is all due to the fact that I’ve been trying a new method of hair care: co-washing. It basically means that you only wash your hair with conditioner instead of using shampoo and you’re not “allowed” to use any other products in your hair. The conditioners must be organic and without silicones, like the ones I’m showing you below.
I was curious to see how my hair reacted to co-washing after reading about it at Antonia, Signe and Clara’s blogs. It is said to be especially good for curly or frizzy hairs but I thought I’d give it a go. I did the co-washing for almost two weeks and was surprised how quickly my hair looked ten times shinier, softer and stronger. I was actually even surprised how my hair could get this clean at all without using any shampoo! However I also felt that my hair got greasy again the day after the wash. I try to wash my hair every second day so I’m not sure if this method is something that will work for me on an daily basis, since I don’t want to start washing it every day. Or did I perhaps not try the method long enough to really know? Anyone who knows?
Having that said I really loved doing this as a 10-day moisture boost for my hair – especially in winter. I will do it again, maybe every other month or so, to keep it shiny and healthy! It might not work on all hair types but I can really recommend trying it out to see if this is something for you! Try googling “No-Poo Method” and you’ll get tons of inspiration on how to wash your hair in an eco-friendly way at the same time as taming frizzy locks.
