Antique Garage

It has often crossed my mind that I should do a New York City guide here on the blog, with my favorite places to shop, eat and sleep. Would you guys be interest in that? Over the last three years I’ve spent a massive amount of time in the big apple and I’m starting to really know the city now and I certainly have my favorite spots. Until then I thought I’d share one of my favorite restaurants, a little mediterranean gem in Soho called Antique Garage.

As the name implies this place is located in a real garage! The wall facing the street is basically a garage door which is completely elevated in the summer. The decoration is just one of a kind. The exposed brick walls are covered in flea market picture frames and old mirrors and in the high ceiling there’s a chandelier more enormous than any chandelier you’ve ever seen! On top of this they have live jazz shows several times per week making the dining experience even more atmospheric. Can you imagine a cozier place? Nope, and then I have not even mentioned the food yet! The food is Mediterranean cuisine that is easy to like. I always need to get the halloumi salad as it is out of this world. I have visited this place at least 10 times now and I’m never disappointed.

I took my brother here last Thursday when we happened to be just around the corner in Soho and he loved the place just as much as I do! Luckily there was a jazz session going on and we had such a great time enjoying the music, food and the atmosphere.

[...] I thought I’d finally share a few more photos from when my brother Jonas and I was in New York the other week. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this city – regardless of how often I’m there there’s always new things to discover and old favorites to revisit. The day we decide to leave Philadelphia I’ll surely miss having the big apple just around the corner. We had some brilliant days as the photos can tell, the sun was mostly shining as we enjoyed shopping in Soho and West Village, seeing the Haprer’s Bazaar: A Decade of Style exhibition at the International Center for Photography and having some amazing dinners at places like Spice Market, The Standard Grill and Antique Garage.
