Due to the hurricane Irene hitting the East Coast this weekend we had not much choice but to have a weekend indoors. We stocked up on all the essentials on Friday, made sure the flashlights had batteries and then decided to take the opportunity to do some cooking and just relax in front of a movie or two. I have to admit that we’ve had two really cozy days in our house just hearing the rain and wind outside and considering we didn’t really have any problems like power outages or floods – a hurricationyou could say ; ) It’s kind of nice being trapped in your home with the one you love not having to feel guilty about doing absolutely nothing! But in other parts of town like Manayunk and in New York the flooding was much worse and I feel so sorry for everyone that has been affected. Here are a few snapshots of our hurrication, from around the house.
We made fresh fettucine…
…with the yummiest tomato sauce (sometimes simple dishes are the best!)
I think every kitchen should have a chalkboard! This one is framed in an antique frame from our favorite flea market.
Hooks from Anthropologie makes our kitchen just a little bit more fun and pretty.
A new crystal bottle and tumblers from Orrefors that we got this summer in Sweden on display on an antique silver tray.
The mantlepiece is decorated with flea market finds like these rocks that I’ve been starting a small collection of.
A skull candle holder from Kosta Boda, Sweden, decorates our dining table.
Ps. It took me like 3 hrs to make this post due to the slow internet connection we’re still having at this point!
