I’ve been meaning to show you our dining space for a while and here’re finally some proper photos! After looking for a farm table with black legs for several months, without finding anything in the right size, we decided to have a custom table built. We contacted David at The Lorimer Workshop and explained exactly our idea for the table. After a couple of months he had built it for us and it’s just like we’d imagined! The size is perfect and comfortably seats six. The walnut board is from old reclaimed wood that has been stained for a distressed look, both environmentally friendly and beautiful! It will only look better for each year.
Our dining space is far from finished, we’re still looking for a painting, some colorful curtains and a ceiling lamp, but that will take some time. For now, this is how it looks:
The photo doesn’t really show but it’s pretty huge – over 2,2 m long (around 88″).
Then we got these original 1970′s Eames Plastic Molded Chairs (with walnut base) from an antique shop in the U.K. called Pink Flamingoes. I just love the contrast between the distressed board of the table and the fibre glass of the chairs. These babies were well worth the investment!
We got four of them – two black ones, one white and one orche. This orche one is probably my favorite!
For the moment we’re mixing the Eames chairs with two different chairs from Anthropologie.
I have nothing against this mix, in fact it adds a a lot of character. However we might get two more Eames chairs in the future.
