Sometimes I dream back to some of the places I have traveled to. Some places has certainly made a stronger impressions than others. Here are four incredible places that has the strange power of making me completely relaxed (which is not that easily done ; )
1. The Indian Countryside.
They way I feel on the North Indian countryside can be compared to nothing else in this world, it is purely a feeling of bliss. The pace of life is slow and the sights incredible. The top pictures is from the tiny village of Khajuraho which has some of the world’s most spectacular temples and in which I spent a week in 2004. But there are numerous places among the river Ganga or up in the mountains which gives me the same feeling. I guess I just feel more like myself there than anywhere else in this world, if that makes any sense to you!
2. Öland, Sweden.
This island just off the southeast coast of Sweden is actually only 10 minutes away from the city where I was born and grew up (Kalmar). Still it has a strange power of injecting my mind with calmness and stillness every time I go there. In the summer the island turns crazy with the turists but 10 months per year it is a picturesque nordic paradise where you can walk along the sandy shores, have picnic’s and look at old barns and windmills. I’m looking forward to going there this summer with my husband, if possible, he loves this place even more than I do.
3. Koh Lanta, Thailand.
A tropical paradise with miles and miles of sandy beaches lined with palm trees – it is not that hard to fall in love with this place! As my parents has a house on this island close to Krabi and go there 2-3 times per year I have gotten to know this place quite well and it is quite amazing. My routine of waking up early, having fresh cut tropical fruits and then head for a 2-hours yoga class overlooking the sea makes it completely impossible to feel nothing but rejuvenated and energized! I long for next time I’m able to go there!
4. Manarola, Italy.
I have just been here once, on our honeymoon last summer, but it was one of those places where I immediately felt that I just have to come back to one day. Just strolling around on these small streets lined with pastel colored houses with a gelato in my hands was incredible. Not to mention jumping from the cliffs into the deep blue sea when the sun was too unbearable. This is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I’ve ever been to!
