I wish that I could always travel with huge old vintage trunks in different sizes and shapes. Unfortunately, most of the times I struggle with my four wheeled “supposed to be ergonomic”- Samsonite suitcase to airports and trains. Not so glamourous!
Today my brother mentioned the old mill Alstermo Bruk located in East Småland (close to where I’m from) which is a company that’s been around since 1804. They manufacture classic travel cases and grew successful in the 1800′s partly because at the time Sweden was very poor and as many as 1,3 million Swedes left the country to settle in the U.S – and well, you got to bring your stuff in something right?
Now they make luxurious hand made travel cases with leather details in a classic style. I wouldn’t mind to have one of these ones!
Old times design meets modern world necessities.
Recently they also did a collaboration with the swedish brand Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair which designed a number of limited edition suitcases and used fabric from Liberty’s London.
